  Why this Audrey Forum?

As a group of Audrey users/hackers, we would like to contribute back to the Audrey users/hackers community. We have enjoyed and gratefully benefited from the information that others have shared on the various Audrey websites (www.audreyhacking.com, www.canoma.com/audrey, www.3rdmoon.com/crusso/audrey/ ) and forums (www.linux-hacker.net, forums.delphiforums.com/audreyapps/ ).

  Rough Going
Over time, we found these forums increasingly difficult to use. In particular:
Lack of organization within the forum space As the message base grows, it is impossible to filter for specific areas of interest. New users end up asking the same questions, over and over again, because it is nearly impossible to sort through the information.
No upload of file attachments to share files. This leads to having to beg for space to hold binaries; external download links easily grow stale and unreliable.
Lack of HTML formatting within messages (i.e. tables, fonts, lists). Poorly formatted instructions are major sources of confusion and frustration.
No content-ranked search capabilities. Finding relevant search results is a daunting task when the list of search hits grow large.
Lack of real threading in messages. Long conversations become hard to follow.

  Improvements

The panFora forum software used here addresses the above noted deficiencies of existing software. The result is more time efficient information sharing. What sets this software apart from all others is its desktop-like feel and capabilities. On Netscape/Mozilla and IE browsers, think desktop email or newsgroup reader-like experience; no Java required.
